Yorkshire Cup

The weather finally relented and provided great conditions for this years Yorkshire Cup competition.

Holidays and injuries left the squad with just 9 players, one of which partially injured.

Drawn in the tough pool with Castleford, West Park Leeds, Pontefract and Old Cros progression to the final and play-off was going to be a challenge.

We kicked off with the first match against local rivals Old Crocs, a very well contested and balanced game which the girls just nudged a victory, followed by a wake up call against a strong Castleford side would won a little too easily.

The girls bounced straight back with a strong team performance against Pontefract with a good win and scoring shared amongst the girls, showing there developing team playing.

Solid defence performances throughout from some who are not normally at the front for tackling duty was wonderful to see and junior girls running strongly with the ball in hand. The senior girls also demonstrated their commitment to each other and team.

The next game against West Park Leeds, given the other results, meant victory for either side was the ticket into the final...........a very strong and well organised side with rolling substitutes was too much for the valiant 9 and although beaten by a better side they showed their development as players and a team.

West Park Leeds dominated the final against a strong Sandal side, with Castleford beating Scarborough in the play-off.
