This Thursday night our Senior Men’s squad head over to Huddersfield for their first pre-season friendly. It’s a 7.15pm kick off over at Lockwood Park.
On Saturday 22nd August our Senior Men welcome West Hartlepool to Hipperholme (2pm kick off) in our second warm-up match.
While the Men’s 1st XV look to build on the third-place finish in Regional 2 North East last season, our 2nd XV face a new challenge as they enter the Counties 3 Yorkshire B league. That means our 2s will face 1st XV's such as Halifax, Barnsley, Castleford, Ossett and Hemsworth – along with other 2nd teams that have entered the pyramid like Huddersfield, Pontefract, Yarnbury and Moortown.

Here’s what Head Coach George Ramsey had to say about the preparations for the new season:
“We're already having a successful off-season and it'll continue to ramp up throughout the summer in the lead up to September 12th when we get under way against Morley at home. I think one of the big things we'll need this year is the younger cohort stepping up to fill some of the holes left by retiring players, but we've no doubt as a club that they're ready.
We're hoping to tweak a few things this year and add a few new dimensions to both our attack and defence. It's great to see some new faces, alongside plenty returning bodies who are excited to get the new season underway.
This year poses a new challenge, with the 2nd XV entering a highly competitive league. The hope for us is that this pushes the standards across the board, it also makes the targets and goals much easier to set across both teams, as we're consistently pushing the one club ethos.”
Brods 2nd XV Coach Adam Sutcliffe had this to say,
With pre-season well underway in the build up to the Brods 2's taking their maiden flight in the Yorkshire counties league system, there's a definite excitement within the group.
With myself and Benny Pritchett in position as coaches we will be looking to help form a solid foundation for the seconds to develop into a league worthy side capable of competing with anyone in our paths.
Tom West, will be taking the mantle of captain, with chief support coming from Harry Wardman and Juan Gilbert. We will be ready to go come the first st game of the season and we hope people will get behind us and support them in what will be a great development for the Brods rugby club.
