Sad News

It is with regret that the club advises the passing of a Brod's legend yesterday.
Ernest Cole passed peacefully with his family following a short illness.
His former team mates and friends at the club would pass on their sincere condolences to the family at this sad time.
There is no doubt that Ernest Cole was one of the best players to ever wear the Brod's colours. He represented the club at 1st team level for many years and may well have played representative rugby if he had been playing at a "senior" club. He continued to play at second and third team level as well as the Veterans and earned the respect of all who knew him not only as an outstanding player but also as a real gentleman.

Much respected at Woodhead and throughout the rugby fraternity he was a one club man and his friendship was valued by all. He continued to support the club in his retirement enjoying watching both John and Richard and subsequently his grandsons Luke, Dan and Jonny throughout their junior and senior careers.

A great loss to us all at the age of 83.
Rest in Peace Ernie

The funeral and cremation will take place at Park Wood, Elland at 10.30am on Wednesday 15th July. Due to the Covid situation the funeral will be invite only.
