Bob Dare was injured but they still won.

With Corono Virus affecting European Travel the Beavers chose to keep their annual tour on the mainland this March and so took a coach to Butlins in Skegness along with 4,000 other happy campers for a 70's weekend. With a few late dropouts who were self isolating it was a cosy coach of just 32 smart lads plus one Beaver travelling by car. A special toilet was installed on the coach for Jacob. When arrived at Butlins all the players settled down for the night with a cup of cocoa in their actually quite nice apartments. The older end went to watch Mud and Slade before their cocoa. Match day was quite a bright pleasant day and The Beavers soon sprung into action with Callum Bacon putting Nick Wells in the clear before scoring himself. Nick scored another long range try and earned the Man of The Match award. The whole game was refereed by Tourist Jeff Heaton and to be fair he was average! Mr Andrew Mear strolled over and Brad Martin got a close range one and maybe some kicks. I think Froggy got a try, Callum got a second and Zain Butt missed a sitter. Shaun Fleming looked fit. Gaz Taylor looked skinny and Keiran Nalton got a bit upset when Jeff blew up as he thought he was scoring. Anyway its all on the Video mostly, I did go in for a coffee at half-time. To be fair I think the scoreline flattered The Beavers, Skegness played well and were unlucky on several occassions. The Beaver Award went to Liam Pierce who was hiding and playing CoinMaster instead of coming back on the pitch! Eventually Jeff blew up and we all went inside for sausage and chips and a cup of tea or two and a sing song. Thanks to Dan and all at Skeggy for your great hospitality. Then taxi back to Butlins for another quiet night with Merrill Osmond for the oldies. Sunday a walk on the beach and early to bed for the coach home to Halifax. Next year its 40 years since the Vets first European Tour so will it be Amsterdam, Benidorm or SkegVegas, perhaps wait a few weeks before we make that decision!
