On Saturday we'll welcome our visitors from Ryedale as our Men's 1st XV take on Malton & Norton (2.15pm kick off).
We hope you get chance to join us as it will be our last 1st XV home match for seven weeks when we'll return to play Morley on Saturday 23rd March. We were due to play Moortown at home on the 2nd March, which would have split up the matches on the road, but you may recall we agreed to swap the home/away fixture back in November when Moortown came to us following the pitch damage caused by their Bonfire Night event.
This Saturday is also our annual Ladies Day match which means all ladies can enter the match for free (normally £5 for all adults). We'd also encourage all ladies to arrive early as, from 12 noon the clubhouse will be providing complimentary glasses of fizz (courtesy of our Ladies and Girls Rugby section), as well as canapes, prize draws and live music.
As it's the opening weekend of the Six Nations, we will of course be showing all the matches live on the big screen (starting on Friday night with France v Ireland at 8pm). The two Saturday matches are Italy v England (2.15pm) and Wales v Scotland (4.45pm).
Match Preview
We’re in for another great match this Saturday as there’s little between the two sides. In the league standings, Brods are third in the table (won 12, lost three) and Malton & Norton are fourth (won 10, lost four, drawn one).
It’s always a great tussle and the previous meet, back in October, was testament to that when Brods ran out narrow winners in a high-scoring 42 – 43 victory over at the Gannock.
Malton & Norton will be raring to go following last week’s 20 – 3 win against Dronfield. Our boys will be looking to bounce back following a heavy defeat at Rochdale. We wish both teams the very best.
Saturday’s Matchday Sponsor is Calder Physio and we’re so grateful for their support. It will be great to see Emma Cliff and Susan Ford joining us. Both ladies are huge advocates of local sport, healthy and active communities. Emma has also been our senior Club Physio for the last 16 years, as well as a mum on the sidelines watching her sons progress through the Brods junior ranks. Thank you Emma and Susan.
