Progress report from Di Parkin
Just four weeks ago, we welcomed a brand-new wave of girls to Old Brodleians RUFC during RugbyFest, many of whom had never picked up a rugby ball before. Since then, the progress has been nothing short of incredible.
We've seen six new players join our U12s and fifteen join our U10s, all bringing amazing energy, determination, and smiles to every session.
This last weekend, our U12 girls took to the field for the very first time at the Sandal Festival, teaming up with Cleckheaton and Castleford to play six matches.
What started as a group of girls learning to pass, tackle, and work together just a few weeks ago has turned into a team showing confidence, teamwork, and genuine rugby spirit — they were rucking, supporting each other, and scoring tries!
More importantly, they made new friends, had fun, and proved exactly what girls' rugby is all about: confidence, community, and connection.
With the England RFU's "Four Weeks of Rugby" campaign now underway, there's never been a better time to get involved. Whether you're brand new or have played before — come along and see how far you can go in just a few short weeks.
Next up, our U10 girls will play their very first match on Sunday 16th November at Old Brodleians, and we can't wait to see their progress too!
Keep watching this space — the future of girls' rugby at Brods is looking bright!
