Brods 7 v huddersfield academy 17

Old Brods U17's had a bad day at the office losing 7-17 at home to Huddersfield ,a team that have been placed in a division below them in the league system introduced this season.

Perhaps it was slight overconfidence and complacency that led to their downfall, as the U17's never got into their game. The normal sharp handling skills of the backs was missing, as time and time again, passes were thrown to ground are above head height giving the ball back to the opposition who needed no encouragement to get one over their near neighbours and long time rivals.

Huddersfield started the game playing down the slight slope and with the wind in their favour they took full advantage of the conditions with their larger forwards drawing in the Brods defence who needed two or three players to bring them down.

Brods were pinned down in their own half and it was no surprise when after 20 mins Huddersfield went over for a converted try and a 7-0 lead.

Centres Perry Wilson and Louis Butler made a couple of half breaks for Brods but they then went further behind when Huddersfied scored a second in the corner for a 12-0 lead at the interval.

Brods bounced back in the second half and generally played the better rugby .Scrum half Jack Martin brought them right back into the game breaking through the Huddersfield defence to defiantly touch down under the posts for a try converted by his namesake fullback Jack DD Martin .Greig Roberston and Adam Dixon both went close but Brods handling simply let them down and with Brods chasing the game Huddersfield broke free in the dying minutes to score in the top corner and seal the victory.
