Old Brods U 17's fought hard and thoroughly deserved their 9-6 Victory away to York.Brods had the majority of possession and territory but just could not break through Yorks defence and relied on the boot of Jack DD Matin for the points .In a very competitive first half Brods took the lead with a Martin penalty after 5 mins before York equalised with a drop goal 22m out. Brods always kept driving forward with some great breaks from the second row through Liam Johnson together with hooker Perry Wilson and the two flankers Ward and Stokes but the best chance of the half fell to winger Joe Ashford who was just tackled short of the line in the right corner.Brods nevertheless did retain the lead when they were awarded a penalty just inside their own half which was made into a very kickable chance when the referee gave Brods another 10 metres following back chat by the York players.Another penalty to Brods and a penalty to York made the score 9-6 at the interval.
The second half was much the same as the first ,Brods having the majority of the possession but not quite able to score the try which would surely have sealed the victory.Unfortunately there were too many infringements by both teams which prevented the game from opening up.Brods did come under severe pressure in the last 10 minutes as the home team pressed for the winning score but they held out for the win
