Although another valiant performance from the Brods u17's against a full strength Wheatley Hills side,it was not to be our day!By the Wheatley hills own admission ,they played their best rubgy they had played all season today. The game started off the usual slow start for the Brods and this allowed Wheatley to score an early try at the side of the posts. From this, Brods woke up and the next 20 minutes of the game was played in the middle of the field. The Brods then began to show dominance and worked down the field with some good forwards drives and were rewarded with a try from Perry wilson after a driving maul, converted by Jack DD Martin. The game from then on was end to end stuff, with both teams threatening the line at any time, but it was Wheatley Hills that capitalised from a penalty ,kicking across field for the winger to touch down an easy try.Conversion missed. This seemed to spur the Brods lads on and they began to perform the way they should have done from the beginning and take control of the game.A misread situation from the referee gave Wheatley Hills a penalty ,which they took resulting in the final score 15-7.Although the last 5 minutes Brods threatened the line,it was too little too late!
Man of the match Jack DD Martin
Big Hitter Jack Martin
Although overall I thought this was an average performance, the lads really were up against a good side and in this division any mistakes are penalised.
Guisborough at home next week 12.30pm kick off.We will have to be at our best in order to beat them.
