The Brods 17's show some good form to take the points.

Old Brods U17's put in a tremendous home display to beat South Yorkshire rivals Wheatley Hills by 31 points to 15.

Brods started slowly with the opposition forwards dominating the first quarter of the game and pinning the home team back deep inside their own 22m. They struggled to make any headway and under pressure their forwards conceded three early penalties in the scrum, although fortunately for them Wheatley Hills failed to take any advantage of these errors. They were then reduced to 14 men, following the sin binning of one of their forwards, before hitting back through fullback Louis Butler who created a try for himself with a neat little kick over the defence .The try was converted by fly half Jack DD Martin for a 7-0 lead.

The score inspired Brods and they soon added to the points tally when Charlie Wood broke down the right wing only to be caught just short of the line before the ball was retrieved and quickly passed across to the left wing for Adam Dixon to score in the corner .This was then quickly followed by a third try, this time for centre Chris Vine following another Louis Butler kick over and again converted by Martin to give what appeared to be a comfortable 19-0 lead at the break.

Wheatley Hills started the second half has they had the first ,they dominated play and with their forwards virtually camped in the Brods 10 metres they crossed the line 3 times but on each occasion outstanding Brods defence saw the ball held up and the scrum awarded.

Brods resistance was finally broken when Wheatley hills crashed over for a try from the scrum and another from the 22m line to take themselves right back into the game at 19-10.

Old Brods had however not finished scoring and from a line out play Gareth Moger, who had an outstanding game at prop, set up a move which resulted in some fantastic running rugby and almost led to a try for Charlie Wood in the top corner .Nevertheless No 8, Richard Stokes did pop up on the wing to score the next try following a tremendous break from midfield by Vine.

Wheatley Hills were still not beaten and scored from the wing to set up a nail biting finish to the game which was finally ended when Dixon picked up a loose ball inside his own 10 metres and sprinted the full length of the pitch to score his second try of the day .Martin added the extra two points to confirm the win.
