Brods make hard work at Goole to take the win.

Goole throw everything at the brods but thankfully brods fitness sees them home in 1st round of cup
Yorkshire cup round 1.
U17 Old Brods 24 v 5 Goole u17
Brods set off to goole confident they could take the spoils. With them laying at the bottom of div2 it should have been a simple play and win, shame nobody told goole who played out of their skins and took the game to brods. First half got under way with some toing and froing in both halves, brods getting a lot of penalties going against them. With goole putting together a great attack they where the first to score, 5-0. Brods woke up breifley and put some pressure on the goole line with strong runs from camerron wroot and jonny cole, eventually the ball was passed out to the backs for jasper ayreton to score, greg roper adding the extras, 5-7. Goole came straight back and where spoiling as much ball as possible at the ruck to stop brods getting any decent ball, what ball did come out was either passed forward or dropped. After some neat passes from sam Jeffries out to brodie Wilson in the centres brods got themselves into a good striking position and with wroot taking the ball into goole defence broke the line to score.5-12.H/T
The second half started with goole still sniffing a chance of an upset, they started to really press them the brods line and only stout defence from Ollie firth and Harley morris kept them out.with roper finally clearing brods fitness started to kick in and the game was turning. The ball was shipped out from ben sumner to the backs and after a couple of phases ayreton scored his second, 5-17. Even though goole where trying frustration set in abd where starting to make mistakes of their own where tries may have been certain. Brods inside center jeffries was next on the score sheet with roper adding the con to make the final score 5-24.
All in all a really tough game from goole who did everything thet could and made a very entertaining game but brods fitness saw them through to take the win. With all the Yorkshire players back for the next round brods should have a bit more strength in depth and players on the bench to rotate.well done to goole but for brods back to training to get things back on track for the next round.
