castleford show great team spirit but brods just too strong in the end.

Brods u17s--32 v 12-- Castleford. Yorkshire cup semi-final.
With another away draw in this year’s u17 cup, away to Castleford, brods knew if they were to get into the final they would have to do it the hard way.
Upon arrival the cass team where already out and warming up showing they had a real desire to take the game from brods. Ko started and straight away the cass defence were up and in the brods faces, nevertheless brods put them under pressure with good recycling and great running lines from the centre partnership of chester butler and greg roper. Against the run of play cass somehow came up with the ball from the ruck and darted off down field catching the brods asleep, with a couple of passes and missed tackles they were over for the first score. This shocked brods and showed how dangerous cass could be with ball in hand. With the lads now treading more carefully they worked the ball up field with Isaac cracknell and Jonny cole making yards, quick ball from sam Jeffrey to chris bell saw chester butler take the short ball and go over for the try. Next up was brodie Wilson with a great maul set up from the forwards and Wilson peeling off the back to score. The next one was from a trade mark run from Wilson to score his second bell adding the converstion. With half time approaching brods seemed to step off the gas and with this, cass were straight in. Quick defence saw them intercept the pass and go in under the posts to take the score with the extras to 17-12 at half time.
After a quick regroup brods started the second half with a new team spirit and were not going to be denied there place in the final. With liam parfitt coming on and roper moving to the wing it was not long before brods scored with roper going over. Now some daylight was showing between the teams and brods settled into their game. Parfitt adding the next score and bell going over himself after a great backs sweeping move the game was in the bag. Cass never stopped putting pressure on the brods the whole game through and asked some questions of this talented squad, but as always they adjusted the game to suit their opposition and came out winners.
We are against west park leeds next Sunday venue to be confirmed. Before that there may be a league div 1 title to win first if wharfedale confirm the game for Wednesday at brods. All in all an exciting week of rugby ahead.
