Brods u17—62 v 10—Huddersfield u17
Yorkshire cup quarter final.
Brods arrived at hudds at the later than normal ko time of 3pm due to junior Yorkshire cup matches being played at Huddersfield this season. Brods had to get their mindset right in order to come out and beat a very strong Huddersfield team. The game got under way and for the first 15 minutes it was nip and tuck by both teams, trying each- others defence and attack. It was brods who struck first with sam Jeffrey spotting a gap from scrum half and going over under the posts for the try. Chris bell adding the extras. With hudds throwing themselves into the tackling and keeping brods from attacking it took some great work with ball in hand from the brods back line to put jasper Ayreton in for the first of his brace of tries. Hudds were in no mood to lie down and came back at brods to gain a penalty infront of the posts which was duly kicked. With their heads up hudds put in the best 10 mins of the game and scored a try of their own just before half time, the score now 10-17 to hudds.
With a few changes and fresh legs on brods stepped up another level and 5 mins in greg roper scored , bell adding the extras. By now brods where dictating the game with Isaac cracknel to the fore taking the ball to the hudds line, quick recycling saw bell score. Next up was Harley morris to score a great individual try of his own. With chester butler, brodie Wilson, ayreton and ben sumner all scoring in succession it was a run -away score in the end. The final score did not reflect the hard work hudds put into the game and deserve credit for keeping going to the end.
Brods now move onto the semi- final against Castleford away next week. Another unknown quantity and brods will have to be at their best to make it into this years Yorkshire cup final. They have the players and can achieve the result but have to be at their best all the way now.
