Brods 24 v 0 thornesians

Old Brods U17’s friendly away to Thornesians turned out to be a much harder game than they expected but nonetheless they came away with a 24-0 victory,

In cold and muddy conditions Thornesians played to their strengths, killing the ball when ever they got the chance and mixing it with the Brods forwards who on at least one occasion lost their discipline as a result .However Brods could and would have had more points if their ball handling had been up to their normal high standards and they reduced the number of errors in their game.

Nevertheless Brods were never in danger of loosing this game and the points came through flanker and man of the match, Jonathan Foster, with two tries., His first came when he crashed over the line after Brods won the lineout ball deep inside Thornesians territory and his second a brilliant solo try as he burst down the wing out of his own half to score in the corner.

Fullback Louie Butler scored Brods second of the day linking into the play to cross over in the corner before touching down behind the posts

Brods fourth was testament to the fine work put in by the forwards. Through the game they had used the rolling maul to great affect and half way through the second half they set up a maul which took them 30 meters down the pitch before flanker Zac Ward broke off and scored the try.

Fly half Jack DD Matin added the extra points converting 2 of the tries and condolences go out to winger Will Ginns who was unlucky to have a try disallowed when the pass to him was judged to be forward.
