Superb display of open rugby kills off Huddersfield's valiant attempt to beat Brods.

Old Brods U17's returned to action for the first time in 3 weeks convincingly beating local neighbours Huddersfield by 50 points to 5 away at Lockwood.

From the outset Brods completely dominated the game and they showed their intentions to attack and take the game to Huddersfield when they decided to kick for touch rather than take the easy points when awarded a penalty in the opening minutes .Nevertheless they could not break through the Huddersfield defence with hooker Perry Wilson being denied a touchdown by the padding around the posts.

Brods superiority did eventually win through, although they did need a bit of luck, when fullback Louie Butler kicked out at a loose ball and chased through for a try. This was converted by fly half Jack DD Martin for a 7-0 lead. Moments later flanker Richard Stokes added to the score running in strongly from 10 metres to give Brods a 12-0 lead .Huddersfield never recovered from this set back and Brods continued to pile on the points from set piece plays at the line outs, where Stokes dominated and from the scrum .Winger Charlie Woods and no8 Greig Robertson added to the score giving Brods an unassailable 22-0 lead at half time.

Brods rotated their squad through out the game making 5 or 6 rolling substitutes without weakening the team. In the forwards second rower James Greenwood had a particularly good game picking up the man of the match award with his strong running and excellent work around the rook and at the breakdown, With the amount of ball Brods had it came as no surprise that they scored another try ,again from a set piece play at the line out .This time the ball was spun out to centre Chris Vine to run in and touch down under the posts allowing fly half Martin to add two easy bonus points.

To their credit Huddersfield never gave up and for a ten minute period they pinned Brods back inside their own 10 metres however the Brods forwards were determined not to let the opposition score and were able to win back the ball under pressure slipping the ball back to the classy fullback Butler who was able to launch the ball back up field

Lively scrum half Jack Martin then dummied his way other for another try quickly followed by a score from Wilson. Huddersfield did rally with a late try in the corner before Jack DD Martin brought proceedings to an end when the Huddersfield defence gave him far too much room and allowed him to score under the posts ,again after Brods had won the ball in the scrum. Martin converted to notch up the half century .
