overall winners without a point being scored against Brods u17. games where 10 mins each way with normal rules applying. the kooga zebras where a local academy side made up from the best players in the surrounding area. they looked like a decent outfit with their own tent and club physio between each game, preparing the players with massages. Also they had a number of coaches and photo and video analysis going on. they where very big and structured but with all that they where no match for the hungover ragtags from halifax.
Vilniaus where the opposite, they travelled for 24 hours from lithuania just to be at the festival and where a bunch of strong very determined players, they also had a girl playing at hooker. i had a word with their coaches about my concerns about the physicality of the game and our players, their coaches just answered in broken english "she will be fine". and they where right she handled herself very well and did not fear getting invovled.
Crowborough where a good bunch from sussex, who gave us the toughest test and came second in the festival.
Chobham where from surrey and where first to be played, in their defence their coach admitted the lads did not get in till 5 and never really had a chance to get into their stride.
all in all a good day with brods improving as the day went on.
