Brods ease through to second major semi final.

Wath on Dearne RUFC U17’s 19v 38 Old Brodleians RUFC U17’s
Old Brods travelled to Wath for the quarter finals of the Yorkshire Cup , having just recovered from their successful tour to Holland.
The weather conditions, again, not in their favour with a fearsome wind to disrupt their kicking game. Brods kicked off with a great chase, putting pressure on the Wath side from the off. Maintaining their attack the ball was passed out to fullback Tom Wilson for the first try, adding his own conversion, 0-7.Brods showed their depth and skill but continuing this attack, with the second try scored quickly after following a strong run by Captain Cole Wilson, Wilson converting 0-14.Brods kept possession of the ball and despite any attempts made by Wath, Brods kept them in their half of the pitch. When Wath did get possession and make any ground Brods defence held firm and with good positional kicking and forwards pressure, the backs were able to move the ball up field allowing it to be passed out to no 8, James Millington, for the next converted try and subsequent try, taking the half time score to 0-26 in Brods favour.
The second half saw the wind behind Wath this time and they took full advantage of attacking Brods from the off, scoring their first try in minutes,7-26.This was not in Brods plan of play and they quickly regrouped, supporting scrum half Sam Burford Ayre over the try line in response, 7-31.Some good kick and chase ensued by Wath, keeping possession of the ball, saw them keep Brods in their own half for what seemed an eternity, determination adding the points they needed with a following two tries, closing the gap 19-31.However Brods proved their ability to play well under pressure and maintained their belief in their ability, and continued pressure five metres from Waths line finally saw Elliot Craven taken the final try of the game, Wilson keeping his cool and adding the extras.19-38.Wath fought back but the final score in Brods favour saw the game end 19- 38.
That’s sees them through to the semi-finals of the Yorkshire Cup, however their focus will be firmly upon next week’s game for the semi-final of the National Plate at Preston Grasshoppers against Midlands Champions, Kidderminster.
