National Plate semi-final.
Brods u17—20 v 27--- Kidderminster Carolians.
Brods u17 took their bow out of the national plate after losing to a very good Kidderminster side.
Brods had a great start in the first half which showed them dominating the opposition, with great skill and determination by the squad in creating a first try by Toby Robins after a great maul and some skilful kicking to gain ground. Defensively Brods were strong and a subsequent try by Myles Watson saw the Brods lead 10-0 at half time.
However, Kidderminster came out fighting in the second half of play, capitalising on any penalties. Brods gave them , and too many errors and missed tackles allowed them to score a succession of four tries to take them into the lead 10-24.Captain Cole Wilson responded with a try , followed by a great sprint by Tom Wilson and support play by Jimmy Hodkinson to see him take the final try of the game, 20-27.
A disappointing finish for Brods, however they finished strong and should feel positive that had they not had that ten minutes “off spell” the result could have been different. They must now regroup and prepare for the semi-final of the Yorkshire Cup at Middlesbrough next week.
