Yorkshire Cup Final U17’s at Harrogate RUFC
Old Brodleians 10 V 18 Sheffield
Old Brods travelled to Harrogate in the hope of ending their season with a cup win, with 2 coaches of spectators to cheer them on!
However, despite a tough fought battle it was not to be as they bowed out as runners up to Sheffield.
Brods started the game with a lull allowing Sheffield to pressure them from the off, which Sheffield did well and quickly scored two tries, taking the score to 0-10.Brods settled their nerves and began to play their game, the forwards working well gaining ground and camping in Sheffield’s 22, great team work and a solid maul finally resulting in a touch down for James Millington, 5-10. Sheffield followed with another 3 points after a penalty kick, but this did not deter Brods, they kept their focus in attack and were rewarded with their second try by no.10 James Hodkinson.
The second half was very stop start and Brods were unable to get into any flow. The game was very evenly matched, but Brods were unable to gain momentum and Sheffield took the final try of the match 10-18.
With this being the 10th knockout rugby Brods have played it is still an outstanding achievement to put out a team and amounts to their fitness and determination to do their best on the day.
The final game of the league to be played on weds 6th May, away against West Park Leeds with Brods hoping to finish on a high!!
