Old Brods u17—34v22—Middlesbrough U17 Yorkshire div1.
Brods entertained middlesborough for the first time at home ,in this eagerly anticipated league match. Both teams have won their opening matches so it was all to play for. The first half was anybodys with both teams on the front foot with brods forwards led by cole Wilson charging the ball up field. Boro were up for the challenge and defended well, stopping all brods attacks either up front or out wide. This battle continued until boro scored the first try only for brods to respond with their own, from jimmy hodkinson. Boroscored again and again brods retaliated with a try from jimmy Millington. This continued all the first half tit for tat from both sides with neither gaining the upper hand.
The second half started with brods going down the hill and everything looked good for a great second half, again boro defended well and forced the play back up field to score. Brods worked well and Millington went in for the 2nd of his tally of 4 for the day. George ayreton kicked the con and brods sniffed the lead for once in the game. With this in mind things were starting to go well and 10 mins to go myles Watson scored a great try. Boro were struggling to cling on now and brods fitness shone through. Millington adding 2 more tries sealed the game and brods won 34-22.
A really well contested game from 2 top Yorkshire sides. The pace was outstanding and skills from both sides were on show well. we look forward now to dancaster away next week which will be another tough encounter.
