Old Brods u17—5v30---Sheffield u17
This turned out to be a bad day at the office for the brods u17. With brods starting the game with the ko things looked good and a try from brods was nearly scored in the first few minutes, Sheffield though kept them out and to be brutally honest brods never got back in to this game from then on. Sheffield pinned brods in their 22 for some time with brods defence working overtime to keep them out. Alas the line broke and sheff were on the scoreboard 5-0. Brods then had a half decent spell and with the ball secured at the ruck and distributed out to the backs, the ball found its way to jack Farley who levelled the scores 5-5. Brods at this point where their own enemy, with penalties a plenty and easy yards for Sheffield, even so the first half finished level and everything to play for.
With plenty of belief brods went straight on the attack, everyone trying their best to break through the sheff defence. Too many dropped balls and wayward passes did not look good. Sheff were next to score and this seemed to knock the brods out of their stride as what followed where miss tackles dropped balls and too many penalties. Everytime sheff moved the ball and a missed brods tackle resulted in a try for Sheffield. Brods never gave in but as they where playing catch up and time running out, everything they did semmed to go wrong. Finally the game ended with Sheffield winning 30-5.
Sometimes with the best effort things just don’t go your way and Sheffield are too good a team to give easy yards to. Brods 17s have not lost like this for some time and will have to pick themselves up ready for York at home next week. The league is now all open to play for with the top 4 sides equal on points. So bring on the next game.
