Brods u17 back on track

Old Brodleians U 17’s 13 v 0 Doncaster U17’s
Old Brods came out fighting this week in less than favourable weather conditions, but knew they needed to win this game to be back in the running at the top of the table. The lads did not disappoint !
Brods started on the uphill against a strong determined Doncaster pack and though the first few minutes proved a tough battles to keep Doncaster out of their half, forwards pressure and a great driving maul allowed Brods the first try of the game by prop Pete Ashton to take the lead, 5-0. Brods spirits were lifted and they maintained their defence with the whole team playing their part in hit after hit, defending the wings when pressured and covering the pitch. Despite penalties against Brods and continued pressure by Doncaster, they kept their composure and played simple rugby to secure the ball. Some good precision kicking by Brods , gained them ground, eventually setting up the next try of the game for prop Joe Sealey, score 10- 0 as the first half closed.
Doncaster started the second half as determined as ever, with downhill pressure and recycling of the ball, but the Brods boys kept their defensive line throughout , with a penalty in their favour allowing Tom Wilson to add more points 13-0.A further try denied shortly after as Brods were held up over the line, Doncaster showing their strength and will to keep them out. It was a close fought battle throughout the second half as the pitch became muddier and legs grew tired, but hats off to both sides who never gave up the game until the final whistle blew. A great game to watch.
