a massive defensive effort wins it for the u17s

Old Brods U17s 25 v 0 Doncaster U17s.
Even with 3 players out with county commitments, brods still had too much for Doncaster. The game started with brods straight into the attack but the Donny defence was holding firm. After a couple of initial forays into the brods 22 by Donny brods started to dictate the play. They moved, using the forwards, slowly up field and were into good position when the ref awarded brods a penalty which was duly kicked by chris bell (3-0). Donny stuck to their guns and threw their forwards at the brods line only for some outstanding defence by the lads who held them out until bell cleared for safety. Once up field brods forwards started to put some good plays together and resulted in chester butler storming onto a ball and straight through the Donny defence to score. Conkicked by bell (10-0). H/T.
The second half got under way with the brods again on the attack, although Donny were defending well they eventually could not cope with the pace and greg roper went over in the corner for his try. 5 more mins and bell was awarded another penalty and the score was 18-0, at this the game was out of donnys reach but they never gave up and battered the brods line with everything. Brods held firm and after a good 10 mins defending the line brods finally cleared and went on to score another try from james krishnapillai roper kicking the extras to make the final score 25-0.
A great result against a very big physical Doncaster side that played some very good rugby and will be a team hard to beat as the season progresses. Well done to the brods lads who showed a determination to win whatever the circumstances.
Also a big well done to brodie Wilson who was playing for Yorkshire u18s against his team mate liam parfitt who was in the Lancashire u18s. Yorkshire coming out on top in the game. And well done to jonny cole who was playing for Yorkshire u16s against Lancashire.
Next week will be another test for brods who take on wharfedale who have won all their games so far this season.
