Brods u17s knew they had to put in a complete performance this week against Harrogate in order to get the valuable league points needed to make sure they stay in the top 2 of the Yorkshire division 1. Brods started up the hill and showed their intentions quickly with a try scored in the first 5 mins. Great forward play by Cameron wroot and adam roebuck took the brods up the field and into their attack. A great backs play saw chris bell loop around winger greg roper to stroll in for the score. After this brods took control and even with the high penalty count going against the brods, they still were in charge. The next try went to roper again after some great play between the forwards and backs. Harrogate never gave up and threatened the line on a number of occasions but brods defence held firm. The next 2 scores went to jasper ayreton, one of which was an outstanding chip into the corner by bell for ayreton to pick up and trot over the line. With bell adding the extras half time score was 22-0.
The second half was much the same as the first. Brods were in the right parts of the field and attacked well with the ball, maybe sometimes trying too hard to score and making a few errors on the way. Great work from peter walker and new lad on the team joel tippey saw the brods gaining in confidence. Brodie Wilson and Jonny Cole making the hard yards allowing roper to score two more tries and bell adding the extras. Final score 36-0.
A better game from the brods lads. Credit to Harrogate who really threw everything into this game, at times putting some real pressure on the brods but the team held firm and with great home support took the points.
