a great win away from home.

Old Brods u17--- 10 v 7----Sheffield tigers u17
This was always going to be a game that brods had to win, and win they did, just. The game started with brods playing into the gale force winds and finding any play of the ball difficult, but with the forwards led by jonny cole and matt smith, taking the ball into contact and quick recycling meant they seemed to be coping with Sheffield. The home team where at their best and put huge pressure on the brods, but as always the defence was sound. Great tackles by cemeron wroot and ollie firth kept any attack at bay.
After some open play in the middle section of the field where both sides were guilty of mistakes, brods eventually won a lineout and drove over from 10m out for jonny cole to score the first try. Con missed by chris bell. 0-5.
This was all the scores for the first half and when halftime came it gave both teams chance to re-group.
As the changes were made and second half started it was Sheffield that scored first. Some missed tackles out wide allowed the Sheffield winger to score and with a great converstion the scores went to 7-5. This seemed to wake brods up and they went straight on the attack. Joel tippey making good yards and sam Jeffries distributing the ball well meant brods were now starting to take control of the game. With the clock ticking brods knew they had to come up with something.
Chris bell and the back line of chester butler and peter walker where trying everything they had to break the line but Sheffield covered well and stopped any chances. It was only from some storming runs by brodie Wilson and liam parfit that allowed the brods to get into the Sheffield 22 and aloow issac cracknel to score. 7-10.
With only minutes remaining brods had to defend a last onslaught by Sheffield and force the knock on for the ref to call time and a hard fought win for the brods. This now takes brods to the top of Yorkshire div 1 with only 3 games to go.
An outstanding effort by both teams who coped really well with the terrible conditions to put on a great show of skill and determination. Credit goes to both teams and coaches who showed great professionalism.
